At last, an all-inclusive visual compendium of the most illustrious imaginative promotional silver screen campaign worldwide for the most popular series of all time – Star Wars, and in poster form.

This item: The Star Wars Poster Book by Stephen J. Sansweet, head of fan relations at Lucasfilm, is a hardcover 288 page masterpiece from Chronicle Books. Within this book are 350 of the most amazing posters from the Star Wars series, including the very first which was only a text ad saying, "Coming to Your Galaxy This Summer: Star Wars."

This anthology chronicles the history of the genre perfectly in picture form. These are the posters which have been displayed on the bedroom and office walls of serious fans. Some of these posters capture the campy nature such as the infamous exploding head of Darth Vader while others show the more serious artistic form like that of Luke Skywalker battling Darth Vader on the Death Star.

Stephen Sansweet and Peter Vilmur, as well as contributions from other collectors, give behind the scene details of the history of this series through poster form. If you are a collector, the commentaries these expert collectors give are invaluable.

If you collect posters on eBay or anywhere online or at swap meets, you will want a copy of this book that can give you accurate information about bootleg identification so you can tell the difference between a fake and the genuine article.

If you are trying to collect every known Star Wars poster, you'll be in for a treat. You would have a hard time searching the internet to find every poster that is revealed in this volume. This book is that comprehensive and is going to be used as the definitive book on Star Wars poster collecting. It's already being used by dealers as they will often cite this book when it comes to their posters.

As this book was put out in October of 2005, it is sure to be followed up with a sequel book to capture the same in-depth nature as this one, but to include the movies that have been out since like Revenge of the Sith. While it may not have the posters from some of the latest films, it is as authoritative as it gets.

Imagine becoming part of the movie making magic of Star Wars. There is so much paraphernalia and collectibles circulating—its worth is growing astronomically. One thing many don't always consider when they remember Star Wars is that the actors were no-names, for several of them it was in fact their first movie. If Harrison Ford was not cast as Hans Solo, many believed that his career would have never gone anywhere. Nobody knew from the get-go that Star Wars would blow up as immensely as it did. So many posters from the trilogy are still huge price contenders in auctions throughout the U.S. Remember, the most rare posters from the trilogy are still circulating out there somewhere, but few know the right angles to approach when seeking them out.

How does a collector know if he or she is viewing an original Star Wars movie poster or an impostor? For example: Star Wars, The New Hope (1977), supposedly only has one hundred original PG rating version posters before impostors’ setout to do the unimaginable—replicate them. After Star Wars amassed unearthly success, few exclusive theater engagements used the extremely rare masterpiece posters for promotional purposes only. What happened? Star Wars geeks came out of their cubicles and labs—and they took the unshorn, untrodden path to poster seeking bliss. Much to the geeks' chagrin, impostors proliferated everywhere, and the universe was at a standstill. Gaining strength by following in the footsteps of Luke Skywalker's bravery, fans began tracking these few originals and paying extreme prices for them. Attaining one of these rare specimens may cost roughly four thousand dollars nowadays, but that is a small price to pay in order to become the envy and awe of every Star Wars geek out there, as well as every other less ecstatic collector.

Test Star Wars posters, in small amounts, went out before the mass quantities did at the release in 1977. The main difference between those testers and the abundant promotional release posters is that the testers had color edge borders. The test posters would be shown around in order to seek approval from the powers-that-be before mass production. A gem like this costs anywhere between $3500-5000, depending on the quality of it. It's interesting to note that the overall quality and excitement of Star Wars seems to endure the hype of just about every movie today, although that is relatively difficult to say with complete assertion. Remember, we are still currently feeling the affect of its glorious grandeur, so it's difficult to predict which current picture will supplant the hype of Star Wars.

There are many avid Star Wars fans out there, and many of them buy, sell, and collect different articles of memorabilia and collectors items from the movies. With the Star Wars movies being older movies, it might be difficult to find different kinds of collector’s items in just regular stores. Therefore, if one is looking for a Star Wars Episode II poster, this might be a difficult thing to obtain, unless one is looking in the right spot.

A good place to start to look for a Star Wars Episode II poster is online. The Internet helps to make anything attainable for the comfort of your own home. There are numerous online stores that sell all kinds of Star Wars memorabilia, but these stores might have higher prices on their products. However, there is an endless amount of websites that could sell this poster.

There are also sites that are people who are selling their own collection of items. When buying from another person, one needs to be careful that the seller is not selling the item for higher than what it is worth because it is a poster from Star Wars. Sometimes, sellers can raise the prices because the poster is a commodity from a very popular movie series. However, one also has the chance to find a really good deal on these person-to-person sales websites. If the person selling is just looking to get rid of some things that they have in their home, then they are more likely to be selling the poster at a price that is meant to sell. These sites are also a good way of finding something and not having to pay more for them with taxes.

If one cannot find the poster one is looking for, looking at antique stores and garage sales a good next step. Searching in antique stores has more of a chance of finding the poster you are looking for, but at these stores, one will probably pay a higher price. Therefore, looking at garage sales could take a little longer to find the poster, but the price will be much lower.

To conclude, although they are older movies finding Star Wars collector’s items is still relatively easy. There are online stores and people wishing to sell any and all items from these movies. Everything from action figures to wall posters can be found if one looks in the right places, and one does not have to pay large sums of money to get a piece of or a poster from one of their favorite movie series.

The Star Wars Episode I Poster is a pretty artistic poster at first glance. Very movie centric, with characters and events on the the poster. Yet all of this stuff, believe it or not, has a deeper meaning that it is up to the observer to interpret.

First off, Darth Maul seems to just be ominously looming in the background while everyone is quite oblivious of his presence. This is a very crucial and meaningful part of the poster. The fact that he is in the back shows the hidden, dark evil tendencies that lurk deep in the "background" of all people's personalities. It also hints at the hidden dark nature hiding inside young Anakin, depicted here as an innocent boy in the forefront, tendencies that eventually grow too strong and overwhelm him.

All the characters shown in between Anakin and Darth Maul on the Episode I poster aren't just there for mere show either. They all depict things which separate Anakin from the dark side, but some of these things will also be the forces that drive him there.

Obi-wan Kenobi's pose, light saber extended, shows his eternal struggle and drive to protect Anakin and show him the right way. It also symbolizes Obi-wan Kenobi's eventual battle with Darth Maul, on Anakin's behalf, and the many that will follow. It was through this battle filled life that Anakin would learn his warrior ways and develop his taste for fighting and violence. He realized the true limitlessness of his powers and allowed it to consume him to a point beyond return.

The appearance, through the use of perspective, given that R2-D2 and C-3PO are walking down a long hall, having a long road ahead of them. That shows how they just start off in this movies, but all through the six movie saga, they play a very crucial role in every movie. People might think that they are minor characters, but look at every movie and it is true that they do something crucial in each one.

Anakin as a boy on this poster just symbolizes his innocence at the time, and the fact that all of this stuff is behind him in the illustration, displays how it all just basically crept up on him and overwhelmed him. This poster is perhaps the single most symbolic of all Star Wars movie posters to date, and probably will be for sometime.

If you are like one of the many of millions of Star Wars fan in the world you may enjoy collecting movie memorabilia to show your devotion to some of the greatest films of all times including collecting items such as rare Star Wars posters. Many movie fans have taken to collecting movie posters and adding to them to their collection. With Star Wars still endearing itself to new fans all the time, if you are able to get your own posters from this movie you will be making a very wise investment.

If you are interested in collecting these for yourself you will be able to find official ones on the internet and at special interest shops that sell these sorts of items. You can find originals from the very first movie "A New Hope" from 1977 in mint condition to some that have seen some wear and tear for lower prices. Another extremely rare one is one that is dated from 1977 from the movie "A New Hope". This one is from Israel and there appears to only be one on the market. There have been reports that there are less than 20 of these in all existence!

As for "The Empire Strikes Back" there are several posters that are extremely rare such as some of the non-US versions that are available. You can find these from countries such as Hong Kong selling for as much as $1000.
For "Return of the Jedi" you will find a nice selection of posters in different degrees of quality selling for around $400.

When you are looking to purchase rare Star Wars posters you should be careful and watch out for those trying to pass off fake posters for authentic ones. There are many ways you can tell the difference between a real one and one that is actually a reprint. For example, authentic posters are usually 27 x 41 whereas reprints are 27 x 40. Originals are also actually made out of thinner material than the reprints. These are just some of the things you can look for when trying to tell the different between an original and a reprint.

For those shopping for these you will want to be sure and do your research on the company or individual you are looking to buy from. If you are purchasing from an online auction site you will want to look at the seller's ratings to see if they have any complaints. This is also a good way to ensure that you are getting the best deal on rare collectable's like these.

When first released every body wanted a Star Wars Poster. The Star Wars series of films has proven to be timeless and one of the most successful movies in history. Every day there are new fans turned on to Star Wars. From t-shirts, to LEGOs, to toys and posters, Star Wars is an industry in and of itself. Many people cannot understand the infatuation loyal Star Wars fans have with the movies but for the hard core enthusiast, that doesn't matter.
